The handling of this bike is fantastic as you can carry alot more corner speed than a big thou, meaning u can mix it with the big boys, until the straights that is, the engine is great too especially at 10+ which sounds lovely when a race can is fitted. Im not sure why I find the f4i has better handling but it just seems to be a smoother ride. Favourite feature on this machine is its looks. It is very easy to ride and lovely to look at.

Strengths: Power, light weight, handling. The bars will waggle under power butthe Yamaha YZF-R6 isa fast steering track bike so thats to be expected. Bike is near as fast and handles much better for me. Mine will be missed!

. The gearbox is terrible between 1st and second. It produces 40.2 hp. Convenient covers that fit snugly on a Kawasaki, a Yamaha, or other brand of vehicles are available. My bike was horribly unstable at speed and refused to hold a line in corners. I have also fitted some Osram night breaker head lamps (which are a must for any bike). Plenty of major parts resist the rigors of rain and salt well. The gearbox is weak and either changing gear too slowly or abusing the gearbox too much can cause issues. I was not happy with the bike until I changed the suspension to the PB settings mentioned in the R6 talk bike section. Weaknesses: Slightly intimidating if inexperienced and I dont know Japanese for FUCK SLOW DOWN. Would recommend a gear change indicator steering damper good tires and power commander, other than that its perfect. I find a 600 suits me better, i am able to thrash a 600 on these sort of roads, whereas the R1 is to much. Handles well, deliveres all the power when you need it. One of the most versatile bikes I have ever ridden. It is a thirsty bike. Light and nimble enough for the city and with enough poke to rule the motorways. i love the R6,its the best 600 i couldve ever chosen as a first bike! What a bike, try opening the throttle fully for three seconds anywhere! Strengths: Brakes, engine, hadling, build quality. so I am wary of reliability with this one. But other than fuel cost there isn't much else to worry about. After much deliberation between a CBR/GSXR/ZX6R/R6, the latter fitted almost every criteria within my 3500-4000 price range and is a bike I've always wanted to own since it was launched. Test rode both but found the 2002 model to be a lot more user friendly. If you are in the market for a 600 an R6 will not disappoint. Weaknesses: Gearbox between 1st and second can be iffy. Kills my wrists. The bike handles,moves and stops incredibly. 5 years later still going strong love it, fast, manic and still whoops the new 600's. Id recently fitted brand new Metzeler Racetec rubber, which although are road legal, arent the perfect choice for standing water on a sl. Even today the original Yamaha R1 is a sports tool to be reckoned with and updated Yamaha R1s are even more potent and easier to use too.
